In a remarkable display of collective generosity, the Black Funding Network hosted another unforgettable crowdfunding event on April 18th at Goodwin Proctor in London. This gathering wasn’t just about bringing people together; it was about igniting change and supporting impactful Black-led non-profit organisations.
In less than 90 minutes, over £18,000 was raised, showcasing the powerful ethos of community-driven giving. The event exemplified Black Funding Network’s commitment to democratising philanthropy, ensuring that every pound contributed can make a tangible difference in the lives of those served by the chosen organisations.
At the heart of the event were three exceptional organisations: Black Girls Hike, Black SEN Mamas, and Street2Boardroom. These not for profit organisations, with their dedication and passion, embody the spirit of empowerment and resilience within Black communities.
Black Girls Hike, represented by Oge Ijizu, inspires and empowers Black women to embrace the great outdoors, fostering a sense of belonging and adventure. Black SEN Mamas, championed by founder Marsha Martin, provides invaluable support and resources for Black parents navigating the special educational needs system. Meanwhile, Street2Boardroom, showcased by founder Clayton Planter, helps individuals transform their street skills into the knowledge needed to thrive in the business world, transcending barriers and opening doors to success.
For those who couldn’t attend the event, there’s still an opportunity to contribute. Whether through pledges of money or time and by spreading the word, every contribution counts towards sustaining the momentum of change.
You can go here to make a pledge to these organisations, and sign up to our newsletter to be informed of upcoming events by our community and Black Funding Network. Please also consider becoming a member of our Network as this is how we sustain our own organisation as all monies raised at our events go to the wonderful non-profits we support.
As we reflect on the success of this event, we extend our gratitude to all who participated, donated, and supported the campaign for intentional giving. Together, we are forging a path towards a more equitable future. Stay tuned for updates on our next fundraising event, where we’ll continue to celebrate and empower the changemakers in our community.
Together, we can make a difference.
Giving that leads to meaningful action.
